2 August, 2022, London – Skytra, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Airbus, has named Elise Weber as its new CEO and Matthew Tringham as Managing Director.
Weber co-founded Skytra with Matthew Tringham in 2019 to strengthen the air travel industry with new resources: unique data to support strategic decisions and regulated air travel price indices underpinning risk management solutions. Before Skytra, Weber had a 17-year career at Airbus spanning global leadership roles in strategy, performance management, lean manufacturing and communications. Her extensive experience in aviation has been central to building the Skytra proposition with the industry, for the industry.
Weber replaces Mark Howarth, who leaves after more than two years as CEO. Commenting on her appointment, Elise Weber, CEO and Founder of Skytra, said:
“The air travel industry faces significant challenges as it rebuilds following a period of incredible stress. Skytra’s data and risk management solutions addressing pricing, volume and revenue risks in the aviation value chain are more relevant than ever. It’s time for Skytra to accelerate its growth to better serve the sector with its existing product lines and to reduce the time to market for new solutions. This is going to be the main focus for the immediate future.
“I firmly believe Skytra has the potential to sustainably transform the aviation industry and I look forward to redoubling this focus at such an important time.”
Weber speaks four languages fluently and holds two Diplomas in communications and an executive MBA with majors in finance and marketing. She currently serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC) of the College of Business at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU-WW). In 2022, Weber was awarded the Trailblazer of the Year Award by Advancing Women in Aviation Roundtable, a non-profit corporation on a mission to engage CEOs to build awareness and develop actionable strategies to promote the development and advancement of women leaders in the aviation industry.
Skytra is authorised as a Benchmark Administrator by the UK FCA and publishes the world’s first regulated air travel price indices. Skytra data and its wider index-family are designed to underpin risk management solutions such as traffic insurances, index-based lease contracts and derivatives for airlines, lessors, travel agents, corporates, and financial institutions.
